I hope the panel have seen that there is a real determination to address the recommendations of the Kerslake Review – not just from me as leader but across the board from members and officers.

Credit must go to opposition leaders, Cllr Robert Alden and Cllr Paul Tilsley, for working in a positive cross-party way for the good of the city. Together we’re putting Birmingham first.

We are jointly committed to delivering on the recommendations of the Kerslake Report and the progress made over the last 12 months underlines that commitment.

The foundations have been laid but there is no room for complacency and the hard work continues to restore the City Council’s reputation as a leader in local government.
